Roots of Arakan is a youth-led research and documentation initiative working with Rohingya and Rakhine communities. We collect testimony, document lived history, and turn evidence into policy — supporting reconciliation, human rights, and durable peace in Myanmar.
Founded and led by young people directly affected by displacement, our work is grounded in lived experience and guided by advisors in policy, peacebuilding, and human rights.
Preserving memories through video, audio, and written testimonies.
Recording traditions, languages, folklore, and cultural expressions.
Evidence-based research to support advocacy, recognition, and accountability.
Youth-led dialogue and peacebuilding to rebuild trust within historically divided groups.
“Together, we will document lived histories to support peace, justice, and coexistence.”— Murshid Alam, Director
